The world of XR is constantly evolving, offering new and exciting ways to experience art, history, and play. SENSEcity’s highlight of 2023 was the Historistage at Brighton Dome. The project, developed through the Heritage XR programme, was showcased with great success in July 2023, highlighting its innovative approach to heritage storytelling.
Historistage was designed to enhance visitor experiences at heritage sites, theatres, and museums by using augmented reality to bring history to life. Visitors could explore a tactile physical model of the Brighton Dome as it was in the 1800s. By scanning the model with their smartphones, they unlock AR and 3D animations that transport them back in time.
